Data science and AI for aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul.
Yellowhammer is a forward deployed engineering company. Our engineers work inside aviation operations and build the AI systems that close the gap between a concrete problem and a working solution.
Forward deployed engineering
Bridging the gap between operational problems and AI solutions.
Most AI projects in aviation fail in the space between a promising model and a process that actually depends on it. Forward deployed engineers work in that space.
Inside the operation
Our engineers sit with the people who own the problem — alongside Part-66 and CAMO staff, in the transition, the inspection, the fleet review. That is where the edge cases are, and where the software is tested against reality.
From problem to working system
We start from a concrete operational question, not from a technology. The output is a system in daily use, with the people who use it able to trust what it says.
Narrow, then deeper
One high-stakes workflow at a time. We expand only when the first one is trusted enough that the customer asks for more.
What we work on
Three areas of work.
Aircraft technical records
Extraction and structuring of maintenance records, logbooks, release certificates and component histories into data that can be queried and checked.
Ontology and data modelling
Domain models for aircraft, components, life limits, compliance and events, aligned with MRO data standards and built to keep provenance.
Applied AI in MRO workflows
Document understanding, entity resolution and analytics deployed inside real processes, with engineers on site.
Example
ARFE
ARFE is what this approach looks like applied to one problem: the records review behind lease redeliveries and pre-purchase inspections. It reconstructs an asset's maintenance history from unstructured documentation and calculates remaining value and financial exposure, with every figure linked to its source. In development with early partners.
